Can you explain the process to me? Iím new at this

Call our office. Tell us what you need. We will ask you what insurance you have so that we can determine which of our providers can help you. We will answer your questions and then ask if you would like an appointment. If you do, we will take your personal information and set an appointment for you. We will ask that you arrive 30 minutes early so that you may complete ďNew Patient InformationĒ forms. When calling to make your first appointment, you will need your member ID for your insurance company. When attending your first appointment, you will need to bring your insurance card so that we may copy it. <RETURN>

What is the difference between a psychiatrist and a therapist?

A psychiatrist will evaluate the patient to determine if the patient will benefit from medication. If this is the case, the doctor will prescribe the medication and asked the patient to schedule follow-up appointments for medication management.

A therapist will discuss the issues a patient is dealing with and try to help the patient find solutions. If follow-up sessions are needed, the therapist will ask the patient to schedule more appointments. Psychotherapy helps children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of ways. They receive emotional support, resolve conflicts with people, understand feelings and problems, and try out new solutions to old problems. <RETURN>

What are your payment fees?

For those patients who have insurance, an authorization will be obtained. It will inform us as to how many visits you have per calendar year, what services you can obtain, and what your copay will be. We bill insurance companies as a courtesy to you, the patient. It is also the patientís responsibility to know about their insurance as well.  

If a patient has no insurance, they may visit on a cash basis. <RETURN>

Do you accept all insurances?

We accept most insurances. A simple phone call to your insurance company will inform you if our providers accept your insurance. <RETURN>

Do you give medications to children?

There are situations when a child will benefit greatly from medications. The doctor will explain how these medications can help your child. <RETURN>

Can you tell me about the doctor?

What if your doctor or therapist doesnít deal with my issue?

We have a well rounded staff with years of experience. We probably will be able to assist you. However, if we canít, we will refer you to someone who can. <RETURN>

Can you recommend a doctor or therapist for me?

If you tell your intake specialist what your issues are, they will place you with the provider who has expertise in that area. <RETURN>
